Thanks to a small robot, visually-impaired children can be better integrated into conversations.
However, young people, and young women in particular, often see more than they bargained for in chat rooms or on social media. Images of male sexual parts, for example. Or hate-filled comments and insulting statements about gender.
Which is why a female founder and her Berlin-based startup are doing something about it. Their AI software recognises problematic content and makes it indecipherable – or replaces it with images of cute cats.
Parents and guardians can be informed at the same time so that next steps may be discussed – assuming users haven’t flagged the content directly in apps.
Another Berlin startup is encouraging school students to be kinder.
