Experienced hackers can be exposed. Password vaults help people remember the many logins required to access online services. But even they aren’t completely risk-free.
Cue a Texas-based research team and its browser extension, which allows users to dispense with passwords save for a single master one. When visiting a website, the extension must first be activated and the master password inserted.
On a server, the master password is then combined with the website’s domain name and cryptographic components to produce a unique password. This is wiped from the server, browser and device after use.
Preventing unauthorised access – and perhaps providing additional security for those affected by domestic violence. An app, meanwhile, stops AI using online photographs for facial recognition.
