A robot removes algae from ships’ hulls autonomously.

Now, a Norwegian startup is using automated technology to combat mildew and fungal mould on grapevines. Here, too, there is no need for chemicals, as the electrically-powered robot doesn’t employ oil or sulphur, but soft UV-C light.

The latter specifically breaks up the DNA of pests and viruses while protecting the environment and plants. Cameras simultaneously capture the vines’ condition and the maturity levels of their fruit.

Data which is sent to a cloud-based AI for analysis. Results retrieved through an app suggest further measures to protect the yield. Others are ensuring wine can be enjoyed for longer.

Elsewhere, robots are looking after plants or using UV-C light to disinfect buildings.
