
Even jellyfish have culinary potential. But those undergoing radio- or chemotherapy often lose their sense of taste and smell.
Enter a Swiss startup aiming to support those affected, in the process reducing the risk of malnutrition and helping cancer patients rediscover their love of food.
An olfactory kit first establishes which aromas and scents patients can still perceive and to what extent. Next, individual nutrition plans are developed based on the results and individual food preferences.
These should also help counter any weight loss experienced during treatment. An app containing personalised recommendations and patients’ ‘progress journey’ is planned.
A British chef had a similar idea a few years ago; a specially developed cookbook is the result.
