Our needs change as we age. Take our living arrangements, for example, or women going through the menopause.
But what about later? Well, a Canadian research institute is dedicating itself exclusively to the health of older women.
With both existing research and data sparse, the founding director, a respected geriatrician and scientist, took the decision to establish her own lab.
The focus is to explore what needs older women have, and how their lives can be made easier. Not just medically, but socially too.
Priorities on the agenda include promoting care in the home, improving medication and tempering feelings of isolation in seniors.
The studies, when published, should help modernise the country’s health system.
Healthy outlook.
