Towable tiny houses make for a good night’s sleep.

Across Germany every day, some 120,000 truck drivers spend their legally stipulated breaks somewhere near the motorway, often in their vehicle.

Hotels are expensive and hard to find. Enter a Duesseldorf startup, which is converting shipping containers into sleeping accommodation, complete with shower and WC.

Four rooms constitute a unit, which can be extended as required. Measuring 28m², the units offer truckers, commuters and travelling salespeople space to properly relax.

The energy-efficient accommodation has air-conditioning, roller shutters, free internet access and an inbuilt security system.

Bookings and reservations are made by internet or app, with a digital room key providing access.

Former shipping containers have other uses too.
