Men love fast cars, women stylish clothes. Some stereotypes are hard to shift.
A woman who grew up in the UAE and studied at MIT, is aiming to change one of them. A passionate gamer, she founded a company that encourages girls to build games themselves.
For the past 8 years she’s been running a boot camp, which has been attended by 6,500 young women so far.
Passionate gamers themselves, many start the camp with few programming skills and all succeed in producing a finished game. Of these several have turned a profit.
Game-design encourages young women to think strategically and develop systematic processes. The industry is more diverse for their presence.
In gaming, too, equal opportunities are vital.
