Insects are crucial for maintaining a natural equilibrium. Indeed, many larger animals consume them on a daily basis.
Now, a Danish startup is bringing sustainable meat to the table. It’s made from buffalo beetles and pea protein, and was inspired by the founder’s trip to Tanzania.
The goal is to make insects more palatable to Europeans. Not only are they highly nutritious and tasty – when prepared right, they also use very few resources.
The beetles can be farmed vertically and fed with food waste. The same goes for other insects.
Grasshopper crispbread, beetle protein-bars and worm chocolate are already available.
