Whether in coffee, muesli, or simply in a glass, for many it’s part of their morning routine. Milk.
Increasingly, however, consumers are looking to dairy substitutes. Cue the latest addition to the market, made by a Swedish startup from dried peas.
Naturally low in sugar, it’s almost identical to cow’s milk in taste. And when it comes to protein, oat milk and almond milk find themselves languishing in a distant second place.
The pea plant is both low-maintenance and climate-friendly. It doesn’t need to be fertilized, since it absorbs nitrogen from the air. Nor does it need much water.
Unchilled, the carton of pea milk keeps for up to a year. More than enough time to make its acquaintance.
