
Supply and demand of biological waste is becoming more transparent.
Meanwhile, in order to promote the funding of sustainable projects, a Portuguese startup has launched a platform for private individuals and organisations. Both can invest in projects and receive interest of up to 9% each year.
In turn, projects by profit-oriented or charitable organisations must adhere to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals – be related to renewable energy, say, education, clean water or sustainable land management.
The startup team specifically assesses financial and technical risks and may require guarantees from project  shareholders.
So far, 360 projects have been supported globally, with €36.5 million of investment generating €2 million in interest payments.
Risk capital is also available for LGBTIQ+ startups.
