Enter a US-based IT security technician and his prototype for an online library. His vision? To grant users access to banned books (recently forbidden in America: a children’s book by a Hollywood icon).
By adapting the software, he made the lamp into a WiFi hotspot. Next he installed a web server on the integrated computer chip, allowing books to be stored there.
When switched on, the lamp appears during a network search, meaning anyone aware of the ‘secret’ library can connect using their mobile device. A simple user interface allows access to stored books.
Access to literature plays an important role in prisons too.
