The team’s smart liner stems from a university project and is padded with an elastic silicone insert with embedded air chambers. The insert can be inflated and deflated electrically using a smartphone app.

Taking account of the changes to limb tissue which occur during the day and through sitting, standing or walking. An artificial intelligence is trained alongside, enabling it to regulate future changes.

The patented solution is an upgrade on 3D-printed prosthetics. Others can find a helping hand to get a grip.
