And now a university research team in California has discovered that the liquid gold can help fight breast cancer. Particularly in cases where cancer cell growth is stimulated by oestrogen.

The team’s study showed how Manuka honey suspended signals between the hormone and cancer cells. Reducing growth by 84% and eventually causing the malignant cells to die.

There were no major side effects, nor was the development of skin and lymph tissue unduly affected.
