At birthday parties it’s candles, at Christmas time it’s lights.

This December, the city of Madrid is giving people with visual and intellectual disabilities the chance to enjoy the magic of Christmas.

A research team from Carlos University has developed an app which stores 31 yuletide visiting points.

Once the tracking system is activated, users can choose one of four routes through the city, taking in the lights as they go.

Each site has a detailed narrative audio description with additional background information. The app even offers a child-friendly version, so that the little ones can enjoy the festive decorations too.

Happy Holidays, one and all!
