Fresh air sharpens our senses. Inside, plants can too. But potted plants can never purify our air completely.
Most organisms that cleanse the air of pollutants are found in the roots. That is, in the soil. Which is why a Canadian startup has developed a moving wall providing even more freshness in rooms.
Different types of plant are grown without soil on the front side of the wall, with water and nutrients provided through an opening.
This creates a filtering biofilm at the roots. Through ventilators inside the wall, air from above is pulled in towards the roots and released back into the room on the front side.
Sensors record the plants’ condition, and data can be accessed by app.
