Scorching a steak on the stove? The extractor hood soaks up the stink. Yet anyone cycling in a big city is exposed to all kinds of noxious gases.
A product-design engineer is set to change all this, however, with a new bike wheel filter.
During the ride polluted air is drawn, at the front wheel, into the device where it is cleaned by Loofah, HEPA and activated carbon filters and expelled.
The filter can be exchanged, cleaned and reused, and even recycled. By equipping just 10% of London cyclists, around 270 cubic meters of air could be filtered each day.
That’s twenty times the size of Trafalgar Square. Incentives are planned.
A good idea all round.
