Industrial infrastructure also needs regular monitoring. Flying support is nothing new, but now a Swiss startup has developed a maintenance drone with 360° aerial mobility, which can get just about anywhere.
It’s all possible thanks to two tiltable propellers installed at the side and an additional rotor at the back. The design is currently patent-pending.
Tools such as cameras, acoustic converters, ultrasonic transducers and radar can be added at the front to enable non-destructive inspections. Data captured by the sensors is transmitted live at distances of up to 300m.
The drone flies autonomously for 10-14 minutes, with manual control also available.
Gas leaks can already be detected on the fly.
