Now a non-profit organisation from Alabama has created an online map tool for New York to drive inclusion of the neurodivergent community in public life.

Users can add their favourite spots to the map assuming they adhere to five criteria. Locations should be quiet, with soft lighting and comfortable seating.

Equally important: they feel safe and are quickly found through clear and recognisable signs. Lastly, they should be easily accessible with no barriers preventing users from entering the space.

Expansion is planned in other cities.

A different app is already cataloguing quiet spaces in American cities.
