Plants can be automatically cultivated in the desert. Robot boats are freeing oceans of plastic waste.
And a North American startup is developing a smart system to remove waste from commercial buildings sustainably.
Sensors on the bins’ upper edge monitor the filling level. If reached, a robot vehicle removes the inner container and makes for the collection point.
Once emptied by cleaning staff, the robot returns the container to the bin. No collisions.
In the future the robot could even transport multiple loads. The sensors, meanwhile, help provide statistics on the amount of waste generated in containers.
As well as increasing efficiency, the technology also eases the burden on staff.
Flower waste, meanwhile, can be converted into leather alternatives.
