Incentivised generation

Art & Leisure

A new film knows when food goes off.

Now, a startup from Hungary has come up with a solution for companies and their biological waste. Instead of winding up on the rubbish tip and creating greenhouse gases, the waste can be composted on site.

It’s done by a device resembling a mini kettle barbecue. Employees are incentivised to use the service by scanning a QR code afterwards, which leads to rewards.

The startup offers collection and maintenance of any topsoil generated, which is then passed on to local green spaces. Tracked data, meanwhile, can be included in company sustainability reports.

In Singapore, work is underway to use wastewater from soybean production for fish farming. Others are focusing on smart recycling.
