An armband concept detects and prevents hot flushes.
Meanwhile, an Irish startup is focused on females of other species. The team’s sensor recognises the start of contractions in pregnant cows and heifers, denoted by specific movements of the tail.
The sensor is registered in an app and connected with two telephone numbers. 3-4 days before calving it’s attached to the top of the animal’s tail.
The sensor collects around 600 data points per second and as soon as the integrated algorithm recognises the tail’s tell-tale pattern, it sends an SMS. Usually about an hour before birth. Meaning that farmers can react in good time, even in large grazing areas.
A different sensor increases wild animals’ chances of survival.
